Infernis – Chapter Fifty-Seven

May 7, 2013

There was only dark. No stars, no moon, certainly no sun.

There was the sound of water. More specifically, the sound of someone or something moving in it.

As the pool seemed to be closer, there was a tiny bit of light. A torch, perhaps. Definitely a flame.

The occupant of the pool swam, long black and grey hair flowed behind, floating on the surface as the head and body to which it was attached moved smoothly and gracefully through the water.

Then there was a burst followed by the sound of wet feet slapping hard ground; clay or stone most likely.

The swimmer stood, water still spraying off him and the peppery hair that moved wildly like fire.

“Belief!” he shouted.

Something feral fled into the darkness.
